AFN Celebrates Ajayi and Amusan's Diamond League Success

The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), led by President Tonobok Okowa, celebrated the achievements of Nigerian athletes Kanyinsola Ajayi and Tobi Amusan following their performances at the Diamond League in Eugene, Oregon, USA. Kanyinsola Ajayi, the current NCAA champion, won the men's 100m race with a time of 9.84 seconds, equaling Nigeria's national record, and defeating world champion Oblique Seville, who finished second in 9.89 seconds.

Tobi Amusan, the world record holder in the women's 100m hurdles, placed second in her event with a time of 12.34 seconds, behind Masai Russell of the USA, who won in 12.24 seconds. Okowa praised Amusan for her consistency and expressed pride in the athletes' performances, emphasizing their potential as Nigeria prepares for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
