Afreximbank Commits to Expanding African Medical Centre

Dr. Georg Elombi, President of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), commended the African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) for its significant milestones achieved within its first year of operation in Abuja.

Elombi pledged additional investments to expand the centre and announced plans to replicate its model across Africa, specifically in Tanzania and Cameroon. He emphasized that the AMCE has treated 5,000 patients from 20 countries and recorded notable medical achievements, including West Africa's first stereotactic body radiation therapy for lung cancer and multiple complex surgeries.

The centre aims to reduce the reliance on overseas medical treatment by providing world-class healthcare within Africa. Brian Deaver, Chief Executive Officer of AMCE, noted the centre's commitment to advancing patient care through innovative technologies, including artificial intelligence, to improve diagnostic accuracy.

Afreximbank is dedicated to financing the hospital's continued expansion and enhancing healthcare delivery across the continent.
