Afreximbank Appoints Peter Olowononi as Director

Peter Adeshola Olowononi has been appointed as the Southern Africa Regional Operations Director of Afreximbank, effective May 1. He takes over from Humphrei Nwugo, who has been reassigned to lead a similar role in East Africa.

Olowononi will oversee Afreximbank's operations in 13 countries, including Zimbabwe, Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Lesotho, Seychelles, South Africa, and Zambia, with the regional office located in Zimbabwe. Prior to this appointment, Olowononi served as Afreximbank's Director of Client Relations for Anglophone West Africa, managing operations across Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Gambia, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Cape Verde.

He has played a significant role in financing major industrial infrastructure projects in the region, including the Dangote refinery and petrochemical complex. His contributions have been crucial in navigating economic challenges and supporting intra-African trade initiatives.
