Africa Legacy Summit Launches to Boost Hospitality Sector

The Africa Legacy Summit began on May 15 and will run until May 16 in Lagos, organized as part of Eko Hotel's 50th anniversary. Managing Director Ghassan Faddoul emphasized the importance of stronger collaboration among African countries to unlock the continent's hospitality and tourism potential.

He noted Africa's rich cultural and historical assets and the need to develop these into a major global tourism destination. Danni Kioupourogl, General Manager of Eko Hotel, raised concerns about limited intra-African flight connections and restrictive travel policies that hinder tourism growth.

He highlighted that the number of flights operated within Africa is significantly lower than those between European countries, which negatively impacts trade and tourism. The summit aims to generate practical policy recommendations to strengthen the hospitality industry across Nigeria and the wider African continent, encouraging investment and youth entrepreneurship while addressing regulatory bottlenecks.
