Africa50 Secures $50M for Climate-Resilient Projects

Africa50 has secured $50 million in new commitments from two international development finance institutions to accelerate climate-resilient infrastructure projects across Africa. The investments were announced during the 2026 Infra for Africa Forum and Africa50 General Shareholders Meeting in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Italy’s Cassa Depositi e Prestiti committed $40 million, while Proparco, the private sector financing arm of France’s Agence Française de Développement Group, pledged $10 million to the Alliance for Green Infrastructure in Africa – Project Development Fund (AGIA-PD). The AGIA Project Development Fund, managed by Africa50, aims to provide early-stage risk capital for developing bankable green infrastructure projects, addressing significant barriers to infrastructure financing in Africa.
The latest commitments increase the fund's momentum, which reached its first close of $118 million in August 2025. Africa50 aims to raise $400 million for the fund, potentially generating up to $10 billion in investment opportunities.
The event featured addresses from Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan and African Development Bank President Sidi Ould Tah.
