Amusan and Ashe Shine at CAA Championships in Ghana

At the 2026 CAA African Senior Athletics Championships in Ghana, Tobi Amusan, the world record holder, made a strong start by qualifying for the women's 100m hurdles final with a time of 12.82 seconds in her heat. Janet Sundai also participated, finishing second in her heat.

In the men's 100m, Favour Ashe faced initial disqualification due to a false start but was reinstated after Nigeria lodged an appeal, allowing him to qualify for the semi-finals with a time of 10.55 seconds, placing 24th overall. Chidera Ezeakor advanced to the semi-finals of the men's 100m after winning his heat against Ghana's fastest man, Abdul Rashe Saminu, with a time of 10.38 seconds.

In the women's 100m, Rosemari Chukwuma led the Nigerian contingent, securing a semi-final spot with a time of 11.44 seconds. Other athletes, including Miracl Ezechukwu, Tejiri Ugoh, Samson Nathaniel, Sikiru Adeyemi, and Esther Okon, also advanced in their respective events.
