Africans Must Reject Xenophobia and Unite Against Oppression

Owei Lakemfa calls on Africans to resist joining South Africans in xenophobic attitudes, labeling such behavior as "lunacy." He reflects on the historical context of apartheid, stating that the fight against this oppressive system was a collective struggle involving various African nations, including Nigeria. Lakemfa highlights the contributions of Nigerians to the liberation movements in South Africa, including financial support and educational opportunities through scholarships provided by the African National Congress (ANC).

He recalls a speech by Emperor Haile Selassie at the United Nations on October 4, 1963, advocating for the abandonment of racial superiority ideologies. Lakemfa stresses that until all Africans unite and fight against oppression, peace will remain elusive on the continent.

He critiques the delusion among some South Africans who blame fellow Africans for job losses, asserting that the real issue lies in the lack of skills desired by employers.
