Africa's Billionaires Reach $121.3 Billion in Wealth

As of September 3, 2026, Africa's 10 richest billionaires have a combined net worth of $121.3 billion, an increase from $119.1 billion in March 2026, according to Forbes estimates. Aliko Dangote leads the gains among these billionaires.

Michiel Le Roux, a South African banking billionaire and co-founder of Capitec Bank, has a net worth of $3.7 billion, down $100 million from March 2026. He is ranked No. 1,160 globally.

Mohamed Mansour, overseeing the Mansour Group, has a net worth of $4 billion, unchanged since March 2026, ranking him No. 1,065 worldwide. Patrice Motsepe, founder and chairman of African Rainbow Minerals, saw his fortune decline to $3.6 billion from $4.3 billion, marking a $700 million drop.

His wealth also fell by about $5 million in the latest update. The fluctuations in billionaire fortunes are attributed to changes in share prices, exchange rates, and the value of privately held assets.
