Keyamo Secures Airbus Deal to Boost Nigeria's Aviation

Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, finalized a landmark deal with Airbus in France, part of efforts to establish a national aircraft leasing company to support domestic airlines. This initiative follows the Federal Government's approval, which aims to enhance Nigeria's aviation sector by allowing local carriers to acquire modern aircraft.

The delegation included officials from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority and representatives from Ibom Air, which has already received two aircraft and is expected to receive two more soon. During the visit, the delegation toured Airbus's narrow and wide-body aircraft assembly plants and helicopter assembly facilities in Toulouse and Marseille.

Keyamo emphasized the importance of this initiative for Nigerian carriers and expressed gratitude for Airbus's willingness to partner with Nigeria's aviation industry. The discussions also included potential collaborations with the National School of Civil Aviation in France to develop capacity and student exchange programs.
