AGN Immortalizes Junior Pope with "Nollywood City" in Enugu, Honoring Legacy

The Actor Guild of Nigeria (AGN) immortalized the late Nollywood star John Paul Odonwodo, popularly known as Junior Pope, by unveiling the "Nollywood City" in Enugu. The project, situated on 150 plots of land, was inaugurated during a ceremony attended by AGN leaders, actors, stakeholders, and industry creatives.

Emeka Rolla, the AGN National President, described the project as a lasting structure that will honor Junior Pope's legacy and benefit future generations of creatives. The Nollywood City is envisioned as a symbol of unity and opportunity for actors and filmmakers across Nigeria and beyond.

The project will also host a creative hub and the AGN zonal Enugu State secretariat, providing physical space for training, administration, and collaboration within the industry. Junior Pope tragically lost his life in a boat accident on the River Niger in April 2024 while filming a movie.

The accident, which claimed the lives of four crew members, was attributed to human negligence by the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) Managing Director, Bola Oyebamiji.
