RATTAWU President: AI Enhances, Does Not Threaten Workers

At the 114th session of the International Labour Conference in Geneva, RATTAWU President Kalu asserted that artificial intelligence (AI) does not threaten workers but instead serves as a tool to enhance productivity in the media and cultural sectors. He emphasized the need for workers to adapt to technological changes and acquire necessary skills to leverage AI effectively.

Kalu discussed the importance of collective bargaining rights for workers and highlighted the union's strategic partnerships aimed at capacity building to ensure competitiveness in a rapidly evolving work environment. He reiterated the union's commitment to improving remuneration and working conditions for media and cultural workers nationwide.

Kalu also mentioned a proposed special salary structure and welfare package for these workers, which has received government approval. The union's 12-point agenda focuses on protecting the economic interests of its members and enhancing their welfare.
