CIPM Warns Against Unregulated AI Adoption Risks

The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) raised concerns about the rapid unregulated adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) across workplaces and academia during its third international academic conference held in partnership with the Department of Employment Relations and Human Resource Management at the University of Lagos. CIPM President Mallam Ahm Gobir discussed the importance of ensuring responsible deployment of AI technologies to maintain public trust and human values.

Keynote speaker Prof. Sundai Adebisi noted that while AI is reshaping global learning and governance systems, Africa risks falling behind due to weak digital infrastructure and regulatory uncertainty.

Mr. Henri Onukuba emphasized that the challenge is no longer whether institutions should adopt AI but how to do so responsibly.

The conference recognized outstanding research contributions, with Dr. Aramid Kuforiji winning the overall best research award among 38 full papers presented.
