Amnesty International Condemns Killing of Woman by Military in Adamawa Protest

Amnesty International has heightened pressure on Nigerian authorities by releasing a photograph of Mari Talmon, one of nine women allegedly shot dead by soldiers during a protest in Lamurdi Local Government Area, Adamawa State. The women were reportedly demonstrating peacefully against deadly communal clashes when the soldiers opened fire.

While the Nigerian Army denies involvement, Amnesty International maintains that security agencies often exacerbate violence in such situations. The organization criticizes the government for its inadequate response to communal violence and calls for a thorough investigation into the killings.
