Akwa Ibom Lawmaker Distributes N15.25m to 61 Constituents

On Monday, Ukpong Akpabio II, a member of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, launched an empowerment program in Ukana Ikot Ntuen, Essien Udim Local Government Area, distributing N15.25 million in grants to 61 constituents. Each beneficiary received N250,000 to expand their agricultural businesses as part of the Prince Ukpong Akpabio II Business Agriculture Grant Scheme.

This initiative coincided with Akpabio's third anniversary in office and aims to empower young people, enhance economic opportunities, and fulfill campaign promises. The program attracted various stakeholders, including current and former political office holders and community leaders.

Akpabio emphasized the importance of monitoring the grant's utilization to ensure it strengthens and sustains businesses within the constituency. Engr. Enobong Patrick, the chairman of the Business Agriculture Grant Committee, noted that beneficiaries were selected from 11 wards, with additional considerations for persons with disabilities.

The event was attended by notable figures, including Paul Ibara, who commended Akpabio's legislative contributions.
