AIG Olatunji Disu Appointed New Inspector-General of Police

On Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu appointed AIG Olatunji Disu as the new Inspector-General of Police (IGP), marking him as the 23rd person to assume this role. Disu, a Lagos State native, has over three decades of professional experience in policing, intelligence, crime control, and security management.

He joined the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) on May 18, 1992, and has risen through the ranks from Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) to Assistant Inspector General (AIG), the highest rank in the police force. His previous roles include heading the Special Protection Unit (SPU) in Abuja and serving as Commissioner of Police (CP) for the Federal Capital Territory and River State.

Disu has received numerous awards for his leadership, including recognition for outstanding urban crime control. He holds multiple postgraduate qualifications in security, criminology, and public administration.

His appointment is expected to enhance intelligence-driven policing and crime prevention reforms within the Nigeria Police Force.
