AIICO Insurance Launches Malaria Outreach in Ibadan

AIICO Insurance PLC organized a malaria prevention outreach in Ibadan, Oyo State, to commemorate World Malaria Day 2026. The initiative, in partnership with HACEI, aims to reach 5,000 community members across four primary health centers in the Ibadan North Local Government Area.

The outreach focuses on delivering targeted health education and essential prevention resources to vulnerable populations, particularly pregnant women and nursing mothers. Segun Olalandu, head of market communication at AIICO Insurance, stated that malaria remains a critical public health challenge in Nigeria, accounting for approximately 24.3 percent of global malaria cases.

The outreach aims to strengthen awareness, promote preventive behavior, and improve access to life-saving tools within high-risk communities. The initiative includes the distribution of 600 long-lasting insecticide nets and structured health education sessions to enhance understanding of malaria prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment.

Abimbola Shobanjo, managing corporate responsibility at AIICO Insurance, emphasized the need for sustained action at the community level to address the significant threat malaria poses to maternal and child health in Nigeria.
