Air Peace Surpasses Kenya Airways in Capacity Growth

On September 9, 2026, Air Peace announced it has reclaimed its position among Africa's 10 largest airlines by scheduled seat capacity, surpassing Kenya Airways. The airline reported a remarkable growth rate of 54.7% over the past year, increasing its scheduled seat capacity from 229,412 in September 2025 to 354,804 in September 2026, representing an addition of approximately 125,400 seats.

This growth is the highest recorded among Africa's leading airlines, allowing Air Peace to return to the 10th position in the rankings after briefly dropping out in August. The report from global aviation analytics firm OAG also indicated that Royal Air Maroc achieved the second-fastest growth rate at 19.2%.

Despite Air Peace's rapid expansion, Ethiopian Airlines remains the largest airline in Africa by scheduled seat capacity, offering about 2.09 million seats, followed by Safair and EgyptAir.
