NAF Rescues Abducted Borno Students and Teacher

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) reported the successful rescue of students and a teacher who were abducted from the Government Day Secondary School in Lassa, Askira Uba Local Government Area, Borno State. The abduction occurred on a Monday during the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) conducted by the National Examination Council (NECO).

Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodam disclosed that the operation was facilitated by effective air dominance and intelligence-driven military operations. Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sundai Anek, praised the swift deployment of intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) assets that enabled air support to disrupt the terrorists' movements, allowing ground troops to engage effectively.

The operation demonstrated the importance of air power in modern counter-terrorism efforts, particularly when integrated with ground forces. Paul Namask, the Vice Principal of the school, confirmed that the military aircraft's arrival forced the terrorists to disperse, creating an opportunity for the students and teacher to escape.

The military continues operations against terrorist groups in the northeast to restore security in the region.
