Airtel Africa Plc: Airtel Money IPO Intention Announced

Airtel Africa Plc filed a corporate action notice on 23 September 2026 announcing that its mobile money subsidiary, Airtel Mobile Commerce N.V. (Airtel Money), intends to proceed with an initial public offering on the Main Market of the London Stock Exchange. The filing discloses that the proposed IPO will be a secondary offering of existing shares, with no new capital being raised by Airtel Money.
Airtel Africa Plc (AIRTELAFRI) has notified the market of Airtel Money's intention to float on the London Stock Exchange, with an application to be made for admission of Airtel Money's ordinary shares to the equity shares (commercial companies) category of the Official List of the Financial Conduct Authority.
According to the filing, the proposed IPO will consist entirely of a secondary offering — meaning existing Airtel Money shareholders will sell shares, and Airtel Money itself will not raise any new capital through the transaction.
Airtel Africa currently holds a beneficial ownership stake of 77.85% in Airtel Money's issued ordinary share capital. Following the admission, Airtel Africa has stated it expects to remain a long-term strategic shareholder and to continue supporting Airtel Money's development as an independently listed business.
Airtel Money operates across 14 African markets, providing mobile money services both nationally and internationally, alongside the broader Airtel Africa telecommunications offering.
Further information on Airtel Money's operations, strategy, financial performance, and current trading and outlook has been made available by the company at ipo.airtelmoney.com. The offering is restricted from public participation in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and Japan.
