Ondo Governor Aiyedatiwa Allocates N400m for Student Aid

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa launched the 2026 bursary, scholarship, and financial assistance program, allocating N400m for 13,360 students of Ondo State origin in tertiary institutions across Nigeria. The beneficiaries include 11,907 bursary recipients, 614 scholarship beneficiaries, 239 Law School students, 500 medical students in clinical training, and 100 physically challenged students receiving financial assistance.

The event took place at the Cocoa Conference Centre in Akure. Aiyedatiwa emphasized the importance of education as foundational for societal development and highlighted his administration's strategic investments in education as part of the “OUR EASE” development agenda.

The 2026 Budget of Economic Consolidation supports education through the construction and rehabilitation of 500 basic schools and a Digital Literacy Programme, which includes distributing digital tablets to students in 50 public schools. Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun, praised the governor for the timely release of funds and noted an additional N633.918m allocated for 2026 WASSCE registration fees for public secondary school students.
