Ondo Governor Aiyedatiwa Supports Widows with N18m Fund

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has released N18 million to assist vulnerable widows in three local government areas as part of the O’Datiwa Widows Care Programme. The initiative began in Akoko South-West Local Government Area, where over 500 widows received free medical checks, drugs, and financial support.

The programme was launched at the palace of the Olubaka of Oka-Akoko, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Yusuf Adebori Adeleye. Dr Bosede Osamaye, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, represented the governor at the event.

She stated that the initiative aims to provide immediate relief to widows who are struggling to support themselves and their families after losing their spouses. Osamaye emphasized the need for the government to identify with these women and help build their resilience, particularly as many are responsible for raising children alone.

The programme seeks to alleviate poverty among this vulnerable group and demonstrate empathy from the state government.
