Remi Tinubu Launches Empowerment Initiative for Small Businesses

Remi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria, addressed the need for economic empowerment for small business owners during a meeting at the State House in Abuja. She responded to social media criticisms regarding the government's detachment from economic realities, stating that the Renew Hope Initiative aims to support vulnerable Nigerians.

This initiative will not only focus on akara sellers but also include traders dealing in tomatoes, peppers, and roasted plantains. Tinubu disclosed that the federal government has allocated N50,000 to 2,000 beneficiaries as part of a recapitalization program to empower small businesses.

She urged young Nigerians to explore opportunities beyond the oil sector, highlighting the country's untapped agricultural and natural resources. The meeting was part of a broader effort to strengthen small businesses and ensure their sustainability in the face of economic challenges.
