Akpabio Denies Claims of Threat to Northerners Ahead of 2027

Godswill Akpabio, the President of the Senate, issued a statement on Wednesday, dismissing claims that he suggested Northerners would suffer if President Bola Tinubu loses the 2027 election. The clarification was made through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh.

Akpabio labeled the statement as a "complete fabrication" and challenged Engr. Ibrahim Umar Ammar, the alleged sponsor of the claim, to provide evidence, including video or audio recordings of the supposed statement. He emphasized that there was no credible source for the allegation and criticized the use of fabricated statements to incite ethnic tensions ahead of the 2027 elections.

Akpabio highlighted his political relationships with Northerners, including his collaboration with Deputy Senate President Senator Barau Jibrin and initiatives like the North-West and North-Central Development Commissions, to demonstrate his commitment to national unity and development. He urged that political discourse should focus on policies and achievements rather than unfounded allegations.
