Senator Akpabio Urges National Action on Rising Food Prices and Security Challenges

Senator Godswill Akpabio expressed alarm over the escalating cost of food in Nigeria, warning of a looming food crisis that threatens to deepen hunger across the country. He called for urgent coordinated national action to avert a worsening food situation as the Senate resumed its plenary session in Abuja.

Akpabio emphasized the need for legislative, executive, and societal responses to address the growing food insecurity, particularly affecting vulnerable households. He commended the military cooperation between Nigeria and the United States in combating terrorism and emphasized the importance of strengthening the nation's security architecture.

The Senate also observed a minute of silence in honor of the late Senator Godiya Akwashiki from Nasarawa State. Akpabio urged political actors to exercise restraint and patriotism, emphasizing the importance of unity and stability in Nigeria's democratic process.

He called for a focused legislative agenda to unlock economic growth, strengthen institutions, and restore public confidence in governance.
