Akpabio Leads Senators in Condolence Visit to Mpigi's Widow

On Tuesday, October 3, 2023, Godswill Akpabio, the President of the Senate, led a delegation of federal lawmakers to offer condolences to the widow of the late Senator Barinada Mpigi in Abuja. This visit occurred two weeks after Mpigi's death at the age of 64 in a London hospital following a brief illness.

Akpabio, through a statement from his special assistant on media, Jackson Udom, expressed that Mpigi's passing is a painful loss for the nation and the National Assembly. He highlighted Mpigi's dedication as a public servant and his meaningful contributions to legislative development in Nigeria.

Akpabio urged the bereaved family to find solace in the impact Mpigi had on the lives of many and assured them that the entire National Assembly shares in their grief. The visit followed a previous condolence delegation led by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, which included various River State leaders who also paid their respects to Mpigi's family in London.
