Wike and PDP Leaders Honor Late Senator Mpigi in Abuja

On February 19, 2026, Nyesom Wike, alongside leaders from the People's Democratic Party (PDP), received the remains of the late Senator Mpigi at the Abuja airport at 5:30 AM. Present at the ceremony were Senator Mpigi's wife, Patricia Obiageri Mpigi, and their children.

The event also saw the attendance of dignitaries, including the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the PDP, the Senate Minority Leader, and representatives from Rivers State. The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister had visited the late lawmaker's family in London the previous week to express condolences and facilitate the return of the remains.

Senator Mpigi passed away at the age of 64.
