Senator Akpabio Warns Against Fake Tax Law, Directs Senators to Obtain Certified Copies

The controversy arose when discrepancies were discovered in different versions of the Nigeria Tax Administration Act 2025. A House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigated the matter, revealing three different versions in circulation.

The House leadership rejected the interim report of a minor caucus committee, emphasizing the need for accurate information to protect legislative integrity. The investigation highlighted attempts by external actors to tamper with the law's passage.

The House leadership maintained that the bipartisan ad hoc committee set up in December 2025 would continue the inquiry to safeguard democratic institutions.
