Umo Eno Launches Free Golf Training for 155 Teens

Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno has initiated a free golf training program for 155 teenagers as part of a talent-development strategy. This initiative was announced during the closing ceremony of the 2026 Akwa Ibom State Sports Festival in Uyo.

The program will select five young golfers from each of the 31 local government areas in the state for training in preparation for the next year's festival. Governor Eno, represented by Secretary to the State Government Prince Enobong Uwah, stated that local governments are required to provide these young golfers for the program.

The governor emphasized the sports festival's success, noting an increase in competitive disciplines from 18 to 27 and participation from approximately 4,000 young athletes. He assured recognition and rewards for medal winners and participating local governments, similar to the incentives given after the 2025 edition.

Isua Archibong, Captain of Ibom Golf Club, praised the government's support for golf and encouraged local authorities to utilize the facilities available at the Ibom Golf Course.
