NGF's Runsewe Supports Akwa Ibom's Youth Golf Initiative

Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, the President of the Nigeria Golf Federation (NGF), commended the Akwa Ibom Government for launching a free golf training initiative aimed at young people across the state. He praised Governor Umo Eno for prioritizing youth and sports development, stating that the NGF is prepared to collaborate with the state government to enhance grassroots golf and nurture young talents into elite players.

This initiative will select and train five young golfers from each of the 31 Local Government Areas in preparation for the 2027 Sports Festival. Runsewe emphasized the importance of early talent identification and professional coaching, noting that the program would broaden access to golf for children who might not otherwise have the opportunity.

He also acknowledged the Uyo Golf Club's role in grooming the selected young golfers and urged other clubs to adopt similar grassroots initiatives. Runsewe highlighted the potential benefits of golf for youth empowerment and broader sports development.
