Akwa Ibom Governor Bans Masquerade Displays Due to Attacks, Video Goes Viral

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has indefinitely banned public displays of masquerades following attacks by unscrupulous elements disguised as masquerades across the state. The video of his declaration has gone viral.

Akwa Ibom, known for its Christian dominance, has also seen an introduction of Islamic practices. Governor Eno has previously hosted Muslim faith events, emphasizing inclusivity.

Additionally, he recently announced the early payment of a 13th-month salary bonus to state workers. The ban on masquerade displays has stirred conversations on the coexistence of Christianity and traditional African religion practices in the state.
