Akwa Ibom Ranked Cleanest, Kogi Dirtiest State in Nigeria for 2025 - Report Reveals Environmental Disparities

The 2025 Nigerian Environmental Report ranked Akwa Ibom as the cleanest state with a cumulative score of 79%, while Kogi was rated the dirtiest with a score of 15%. The report, released by the Nation Technical Study Group (NTSG) in Abuja, identified nine states achieving clean status, including Akwa Ibom, Enugu, and Ebonyi.

The study highlighted declining sanitation practices and warned of a potential drop in life expectancy due to unclean environments. Professor Solomon Balogun led the annual study using a hybrid methodology combining satellite imagery and environmental data.
