Itu Local Government Wins 2026 Akwa Ibom Sports Festival

Itu Local Government Area successfully defended its title as the overall champion of the 2026 Akwa Ibom State Sports Festival, concluding the six-day competition with a total of 110 medals: 61 gold, 33 silver, and 16 bronze. This victory was confirmed on September 29 at the grand finale held at the Uyo Township Stadium.

Prince Enobong Uwah, the Secretary to the Akwa Ibom State Government, represented Governor Umo Eno during the trophy presentation to the Itu contingent. This achievement marks the second consecutive year that Itu has emerged as champion since the revival of the Akwa Ibom State Sports Festival in 2025.

Uwah commended the athletes for their performance, discipline, and competitive spirit, encouraging them to maintain their high standards. The contingent's success was supported by Hon. Ubong Nkutt, the Executive Chairman of Itu Local Government Council, who provided coordination and backing throughout the competition.
