Akwa Ibom Squash Team Wins 10 Medals at Championship

Team Akwa Ibom achieved remarkable success at the seventh edition of the National Squash Championship held in Abuja, emerging as the overall best-performing team. The team secured a total of 10 medals, comprising five gold, two silver, and three bronze.

The gold medals were won in the Under-11 Boys, Under-13 Boys, Under-13 Girls, Under-17 Boys, and Under-17 Girls categories. The silver medals were earned in the Under-11 Boys and Under-17 Boys categories, while the bronze medals came from the Under-11 Girls and Under-13 Girls categories.

The championship, organized by Squash Ex-Professional Players, featured junior squash players from various states competing in multiple age categories. Team Akwa Ibom consisted of 14 players, led by coach Ibanga Etukudo.

Engineer Iniobong Esuene, a board member of the Nigerian Squash Federation and Vice Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Squash Association, described the performance as a significant milestone for squash in the state, marking the best result in its history at a national championship.
