Akwa Ibom Revenue Surpasses N2.53 Trillion in 32 Months

Under Governor Umo Eno, who was sworn in on May 29, 2023, Akwa Ibom State recorded a revenue of N2.53 trillion within 32 months, exceeding the total earnings of N2.45 trillion accumulated during the previous eight years under former governors Godswill Akpabio and Udom Emmanuel. The financial data, drawn from official documents including budget performance reports and allocations from the Federal Account Allocation Committee, indicates that the state experienced a significant revenue inflow, with N1.134 trillion recorded for the 2025 fiscal year alone.

However, despite the substantial revenue, concerns regarding fiscal transparency have emerged, as the state reportedly spent N2.25 trillion from July 2023 to December 2025 without providing detailed expenditure breakdowns. The analysis also highlighted that the state received N24.27 billion in June 2023 and N21.97 billion in May 2023, with a total revenue of N286.7 billion recorded in Eno's first eight months in office.
