Akwa United Releases Nine Players Ahead of Nigeria National League Second Stanza

Akwa United has made significant changes to its squad by releasing nine players, including Anieti Uko, Erikan Francis, Lazaru Ebuka, and others. Anieti Uko has joined Tanzanian side Mbeya Kwanza, while Francis has moved on loan to Heartland FC.

The team is preparing for the second stanza of the Nigeria National League season, commencing on February 14, 2026. Additionally, the Nationwide League on NLO has issued licensing reminders to clubs, emphasizing the need for compliance with key requirements for the 2025-26 season.

The NLO has also announced a return to the traditional home and away league format for the 2026 season to enhance competition and professionalism. Clubs are mandated to submit official player licenses, improve transparency, and provide distinct kits for home, away, and alternate matches.

Failure to comply with the regulations may result in sanctions.
