NPFL Fines Kwara United N9m, Banishes to Abeokuta

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has imposed a fine of N9 million on Kwara United for breaching its framework rules during a rescheduled match against Rivers United in Ilorin on Wednesday. The club failed to provide adequate security, which allowed unauthorized individuals to access restricted areas.

As a result, Kwara United has been charged with failing to ensure proper conduct among its supporters, leading to harassment and injury of match officials. In addition to the fine, the NPFL has deducted three points and three goals from Kwara United's accrued points due to the assault on match officials.

The club is required to identify and prosecute those responsible for the assault within 48 hours of receiving notice of the sanction. Furthermore, Kwara United will play its home matches at the MKO Abiola Sport Arena in Abeokuta as part of the punishment.
