Abia State Begins Clearing 24-Year Pension Backlog Under Governor Alex Otti

Abia State, led by Governor Alex Otti, has initiated the clearance of a 24-year pension backlog, committing to gradual payments. Otti emphasized the need to settle verified pension arrears dating back to 2001, describing it as a burden that the state can no longer ignore.

The state government, in collaboration with the Nigerian Union of Pensioners, is conducting a thorough review to address the outstanding claims. Otti also highlighted efforts to address salary delays affecting newly recruited teachers and the recruitment of medical personnel.
