Pro-Democracy Group Appeals for Release of Detained Soldiers Allegedly Involved in Coup Plot

The soldiers, including former Director of Defence Information Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, were arrested for indiscipline and breach of military regulations.

The group, led by Yusuf Musa Dauda, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to consider releasing the detained officers, citing concerns about their well-being and lack of proper medical attention. The soldiers' families have been denied access to them, raising human rights concerns about their prolonged detention without trial or legal procedures.

The group emphasized the need for fair judgment and proper medical care for the detainees, urging the government to grant them permission to communicate with their families. There are no known charges against the detainees, and the group hopes for their safe release based on legal procedures.
