Court Orders VeryDarkMan to Pay N30M for Defamation

The Delta State Federal High Court, presided over by Hon. Justice R.

Harriman, ordered social media figure VeryDarkMan to pay N30 million in damages to Esinjemiyotan Uruneyonjuyei Atsepoyi, the wife of comedian Mr. Jollof, for defamation.

The case arose from an online altercation that began in September 2024, where Mr. Jollof accused VeryDarkMan of claiming that Atsepoyi committed adultery with a politician.

Mr. Jollof described VeryDarkMan's actions as damaging to his family, leading Atsepoyi to file a defamation lawsuit seeking N500 million in damages.

The court found that VeryDarkMan could not substantiate his claims and ruled in favor of Atsepoyi, awarding her N20 million in general damages and N10 million in aggravated damages. The court also mandated VeryDarkMan to publish an apology across two national dailies and social media within 14 days of the judgment.
