NCAOOSC Clarifies 2026 Budget Non-Education Projects

The Nigerian Commission for Almajiri Education (NCAOOSC) issued a statement clarifying that the non-education projects included in the 2026 budget are classified as constituency interventions approved by the National Assembly. Nura Muhammad, the Special Assistant on Media to the Executive Secretary of NCAOOSC, emphasized that these projects do not deviate from the commission's legal mandate.

The commission's primary responsibility remains the reform of the almajiri education system, which aims to address the growing number of school children across Nigeria. The commission has identified 700,000 school children nationwide and established 119 learning centers, intensifying community mobilization and advocacy efforts.

NCAOOSC reiterated its commitment to improving access to quality education for almajiri school children and acknowledged the support from the Ministry of Education, specifically from Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa and Prof.

Suwaiba Sa'id Ahmad. The commission aims to eliminate social vices associated with the almajiri system and remains focused on its statutory mandate.
