Alternative Bank Distributes Free POS Devices at Trade Fair

At the 47th Kaduna International Trade Fair, Alternative Bank, represented by Executive Director Garba Moham and Corporate Social Investment Head Solomon Okonkwo, distributed 300 free Point of Sale (POS) devices to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). This initiative aims to address persistent barriers to business growth, particularly cash friction and weak transaction records.

Moham emphasized the need for practical interventions to enable small businesses to operate efficiently and build sustainable growth pathways. He noted that MSMEs account for 96% of businesses in Nigeria and employ 80% of the workforce, yet they face significant challenges accessing financial services and digital infrastructure, especially in Northern Nigeria.

The free POS devices will help merchants transition to traceable digital payments, thereby improving efficiency and reducing cash handling risks. The initiative is part of Alternative Bank's commitment to enhancing financial inclusion and supporting local enterprises, with plans to continue providing services beyond the trade fair.
