Amafibe Urges Action Against Xenophobia in Africa

Dr. Kingslei Amafibe, a public affairs analyst and founder of the 100 Notable African Leadership Business Summit, strongly condemned the increasing wave of xenophobic violence against Africans within the continent.

In a statement issued in Abuja, he described this trend as a dangerous and unacceptable direct threat to African unity and integration. Amafibe raised concerns over recent xenophobic attacks targeting foreign nationals in countries like South Africa and Ghana, warning that these incidents undermine decades of efforts toward continental cooperation.

He noted that the resurgence of xenophobia, particularly in South Africa, reflects deeper socio-economic challenges, including unemployment and inequity. He called on governments, civil society organizations, and regional bodies like the African Union to coordinate decisive actions to address the root causes of xenophobia and protect residents regardless of their nationality.

Amafibe urged African youth and community leaders to reject divisive narratives and embrace unity, emphasizing that the continent's future depends on collaboration rather than conflict.
