Amnesty International Calls for Action on Sudan Conflict

Comrade Auwal Musa Rafsanjani, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Amnesty International Nigeria, has called on African leaders to take a proactive role in addressing the conflict in Sudan. He warned that failure to act could allow the crisis to spread across the continent.

Rafsanjani made these statements during the presentation of Amnesty International's latest report in Abuja, which highlights the severe humanitarian crisis in Sudan, particularly in North Darfur, where the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have allegedly committed human rights violations. The report details deliberate attacks on civilians, unlawful killings, sexual violence, and the destruction of civilian infrastructure, disproportionately affecting children and vulnerable groups.

Rafsanjani urged the Nigerian government not to remain passive despite domestic security and economic challenges and called for an immediate ceasefire and unrestricted humanitarian access. He emphasized the importance of African countries working together to resolve the conflict rather than relying solely on external actors.
