UAE Announces $30M Humanitarian Aid for Sudan Crisis

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced a $30 million emergency humanitarian aid package to assist civilians affected by the worsening conflict in Sudan, particularly in El Obeid, North Kordofan. This initiative, approved directly by UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, aims to ensure unrestricted access to humanitarian assistance across Sudan.

Sheikh Shakhboot Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of State and member of the International Humanitarian Philanthropy Council, stated that the intervention reflects the UAE's commitment to prioritizing humanitarian concerns above all else. The UAE has provided approximately $800 million in humanitarian assistance since the conflict began, supporting refugees and internally displaced persons.

The aid will be channeled through the United Nations and its partners to deliver food, healthcare, and shelter to vulnerable groups, including sick children and elderly women. The UAE emphasizes that the crisis cannot be resolved militarily and calls for renewed support for a civilian-led political process to restore peace and improve the welfare of the Sudanese people.
