INEC Chairman Succession: Amupitan Favored as Yakubu's Replacement

The stage is set for the appointment of a new Chairman for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) following the exit of Professor Mahmood Yakubu. Among the possible replacements, Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan SAN, Justice Abdullahi Mohammed Liman, and Professor Lai Olorede are top contenders.

President Tinubu is expected to unveil the nominee at the National Council of State meeting in Abuja. Yakubu expressed his desire to allow his successor to quickly settle into overseeing Nigeria's electoral processes.
