ANA Launches Reforms and Workshops to Boost Membership

The Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) has initiated several reforms and capacity-building workshops aimed at addressing internal challenges and enhancing its financial operations. These workshops took place during the association’s 45th International Convention and Conference from October 28 to 31, 2026, at the Mamman Jiya Vatsa Writers Village in Mpape, Abuja.
The five workshops focused on topics such as ‘Image Building and Marketing’, ‘Financial Modelling’, and ‘Managing Authors’ Rights in the Digital Environment’. Dr Usman Oladipo Akanbi, ANA National President, stated that these reforms aim to restore the association’s founding ideals and improve members' understanding of their roles.
He noted past internal crises and financial challenges that hindered the association's growth. The administration has implemented stricter enforcement of annual dues, increasing revenue from N3 million in 2023/2024 to N8 million in 2026.
ANA has also partnered with Bold Scholars to create a directory of Nigerian writers and collaborated with REPRONIG and the Nigeria Copyright Commission to educate members on intellectual property rights.
