Analyst Warns of Sabotage Against APC Ahead of 2027 Elections

Abdullahi Ibrahim Yusuf, a political analyst based in Abuja, has raised concerns over a potential plan by disgruntled elements to undermine the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections. Yusuf, who coordinates the Project774 Network, highlighted the importance of reconciliation within the party, especially following its recent national convention.

He noted that the 2026 Electoral Act allows for a consensus direct mode of primaries, which the APC should adopt to avoid internal conflicts. Yusuf warned that aggrieved party members, including governors, might resort to blackmail and sabotage efforts to secure party positions.

He also pointed out that recent defections and discontent among both new entrants and older stakeholders could lead to discord, particularly concerning the loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Yusuf called for immediate reconciliation efforts to bring together aggrieved members and ensure the party's success in the upcoming elections.
