Anambra Assembly Confirms 18 Commissioners, New Nominees

On May 4, 2026, the Anambra State House of Assembly confirmed 18 commissioner nominees proposed by Governor Chukwuma Soludo. The confirmed nominees include Dr.

Law Mefor (Information), Dr. Afam Obidik (Health), Prof.

Offonz Amuchiazu (Land), and others responsible for various sectors such as culture, agriculture, education, and finance. The confirmation took place during a plenary session led by Speaker Hon.

Somtochukwu Udez, who emphasized the importance of collaboration for the betterment of the state. At 3:38 PM, the assembly reported the discharge of the new commissioners.

Additionally, Governor Soludo submitted a second batch of three nominees for confirmation, which includes Arc. Henri Arinz for the Commission of Design and Nonso Chukwuma Ebonwu for the Commission of Commerce, among others.

The assembly referred this new list to the screening committee for further evaluation.
