Anambra State Bans Security Operatives from Wearing Masks

The Anambra State Government has issued a ban on security operatives from wearing masks while on duty, as announced by Governor Ken Emeakayi. This directive is aimed at preventing the potential use of masks by unscrupulous individuals to commit violent crimes.

The ban is effective immediately and applies to all operatives of the Agunaechemba security outfit, which has launched 2,000 personnel and 200 vehicles statewide to enhance security through a community-based approach. Emeakayi emphasized that personnel found flouting this order, except those on special assignments, will face disciplinary action.

The governor also cautioned against indiscriminate checkpoint setups, stating that checkpoints should only be established for security reasons and not to harass innocent motorists. The overall goal of this initiative is to strengthen local policing and ensure the safety of citizens in Anambra State.
