Anambra Police Warn Against Masked VIP Security Guards

The Anambra State Police Command has expressed serious concerns regarding the increasing trend of security personnel concealing their identities while providing protection for important individuals within the state. In a press statement issued by spokesman Tochukwu Ikenga on Sunday, the command noted that such practices, particularly when personnel are not authorized to operate in public with masks, complicate the verification of their legitimacy. This situation raises significant security concerns as it could allow criminal elements to exploit the guise of security duties to perpetrate unlawful acts. The Commissioner of Police, Ikioy Orutugu, emphasized that the identification of security personnel is a critical component in coordinating security operations, especially in environments that require synergy among various agencies. The command has called on security agencies operating within the state to ensure that their personnel are properly identified during routine protective duties, except when clearly defined tactics are sanctioned by appropriate authority. The Anambra State Police Command remains dedicated to upholding professionalism and public trust in discharging its constitutional responsibilities.
